The Tragedy of Hercules & Meghara
It was a cold, hard, dark winter, full of misery and wretchedness
War was raging, launched by a man of wanton recklessness
Inflation, recession and a spike in homelessness
Yet ‘twas one story that gripped the world for its fearlessness
A boy married a girl; this is of no especial importance in itself
The boy was a prince and the girl a thespian all by herself
An arcane and archaic institution the girl was entering
The institution was recalcitrant; the new princess was swiftly exiting
Castles and gallantry were no match for inviolable privacy
Hercules and Meghara were forging a new path of dignity
There was no time to waste in the Evil Empire’s clutch
The star-crossed couple escaped; the land of dreams within touch
To the New World they went; never to be seen again
Quiet they went; there was nothing like solitude and zen
They did not want to be regimental; they wanted LA Confidential
Money and fame was not part of the game; a quiet family life was essential
